The Early Years at The Casco School
At The Casco School, we believe that the early years are the foundation for a lifelong love of learning. Our Preschool curriculum is guided by the British Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, providing a holistic, play-based approach that nurtures curiosity, independence, and creativity.
We understand that every child is unique, learning at their own pace and in their own way. Our experienced Early Years educators design engaging, child-led experiences that encourage exploration, problem-solving, and self-expression, all within a nurturing, bilingual environment. Learning takes place in both Spanish and English, fostering communication skills and cultural awareness from an early age.
The British Early Years Framework
Our play-based approach provides children with a strong foundation for their academic journey, ensuring a smooth transition into Year 1. Through exploration, hands-on learning, and meaningful interactions, children develop essential skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and independence. This approach fosters a love for learning while building the early literacy and numeracy skills needed for more structured education. Play, Exploration and Meaningful Learning
Our Early Years curriculum combines structured teaching with free exploration, encouraging children to develop key skills through play. Each project is designed around a leading question that sparks curiosity and deep thinking. For example, “What happens at night?” or “How do I make this work?” guide our explorations through stories, songs, and hands-on activities. By following the children’s interests and encouraging inquiry-based learning, we create meaningful connections that inspire a lifelong love for discovery.
Our goal is simple: to help children feel safe, happy, and inspired, so they grow into confident, curious learners ready for the next stage of their education.
